A man in police custody confessed to the murder of his son in Bréhéville (Meuse) and must be presented to a judge this Friday in Nancy, said the public prosecutor of Verdun Delphine Moncuit, confirming information from the Est Républicain . The Verdun public prosecutor’s office relinquished responsibility in favor of that of Nancy, which has jurisdiction in criminal matters.
The victim, aged 34, was discovered shot to death on January 16 at his home in Bréhéville, a small town of around 200 inhabitants. Discovered in his bed, in a house that he had renovated and where he lived alone according to Est Républicain, the man had several bullet wounds.
Bullets in the head and abdomen
It was the victim’s father, a farmer, who alerted the police, saying he had not heard from his son for 48 hours. But suspicion quickly fell on him.
According to L’Est Républicain, investigators discovered the existence of “deep differences” between the father and the son, also a farmer and candidate for municipal elections in 2020. The autopsy confirmed the criminal trail – the victim would have been hit in the head, in the abdomen -, leading to the father, aged 66, being placed in police custody on Wednesday. He could be indicted in the coming hours.
