Damien Brunner has decided to end his career as a professional sportsman with immediate effect, announces the HC Bienne. The 38 -year -old striker, physically reduced, has played only 6 games this season.

“During his rehabilitation, he had to see a new regression of his physical condition, which no longer allows him to return to the level of high -level sport,” wrote the HC Biel, where Damien Brunner has been playing since summer 2019 .
-Born in Kloten, Brunner had made his debut in the elite of Swiss hockey in the Flyers jersey during the 2006/2007 season. The former international (84 selections, with five Worlds as well as the 2014 Olympic Games) really revealed with Zug, even finishing best counter in the 2011/2012 championship with 60 points in the regular season and 14 in the play-off.
The husband of the Beachvolley Nina Brunner Olympic medalist (ex-Betschart) then tried his luck in NHL, playing 135 matches (for 67 points) in the prestigious North American league in three years with Detroit then New Jersey. He returned to Switzerland in December 2014, spending three and a half seasons in Lugano before joining Bienne whom he led in the championship final in 2023.
