Ten people, including 7 men and 3 women, are under arrest as part of investigations into the murder of journalist Patrick Adonis Numbi Banze. He was killed with machetes in the city of Lubumbashi, capital of the Haut-Katanga province. These alleged criminals were presented to provincial authorities this Thursday in the Haut-Katanga governorate.

“The journalist had been followed by their leader. Nearly 6 motorcycles had left the commune of Katuba home towards Matshipisha with on board 12 people who acted on the journalist and who returned to their stronghold,” explains Colonel Paul Kilutwa during the presentation of these alleged thugs.

A public and televised trial opens this Friday in Lubumbashi to elucidate the circumstances of the assassination of Patrick Adonis Numbi Banze.

« The criminals who killed the journalist Adonis were 12 in number. One of them was burned and the mother who is there is responsible for the staff where the bandits gather. It is she who is responsible for purchasing bladed weapons including machetes from criminals including those who killed Patrick Adonis Numbi,” explains Jean-Jacques Kashiba, Minister of the Interior and Security of Haut-Katanga.

The provincial government of Haut-Katanga, through its boss, Jacques Kyabula katwe, announced that it is making resources available to the justice system for a public trial in flagrante delicacy which will be covered by the media.

« We want, especially to honor the memory of Patrick Adonis Numbi, that these criminals be tried in flagrante delicacy,” he adds.

Adonis Numbi Banze, general manager of Pamoja Canal, a television station broadcasting from Lubumbashi, was killed near Matshipisha in the copper town late in the evening. Since then, investigations have been carried out and he has still not been buried.
