Eintracht Frankfurt dominated Ferencvaros Budapest 2-0 on Matchday 7 of the Europa League group stage. Thanks to this success, the Germans take an important option to reach the round of 16.
From the first minutes, Eintracht Frankfurt imposed its rhythm against the Hungarian champion. Despite possession largely in favor of the locals, clear chances were slow to come. Hugo Ekitiké stood out in the 19th minute by recovering the ball 25 meters from the opposing goal before trying his luck, but goalkeeper Denes Dibusz intervened.
The Hungarians, organized in a compact defense, limited the opposing incursions and tried to surprise on the counterattack. However, they failed to really threaten, leaving Kevin Trapp to have a relatively quiet first period.
After a goalless first half, the SGE quickly resolved the situation upon returning from the locker room. Can Uzun, only 19 years old, took advantage of effective pressing to recover the ball 20 meters from the goal and unleash a magnificent, unstoppable strike into the left corner (50th). This first goal in the Europa League for the young Turkish international allowed Frankfurt to take the advantage.
With this advance, the Adler continued to control the game and doubled the lead in the 59th minute. On a cross deflected by a Hungarian defender, Hugo Ekitiké, well placed, slipped the ball into the back of the net, confirming his importance in the German attack.
-Despite a few late attempts, Ferencvaros never seemed capable of getting back into the game. The changes made by coach Robbie Keane, who recently took charge of the Hungarian club, were not enough to reverse the trend. For their part, the Germans managed their lead with mastery, despite a few unnecessary warnings at the end of the match.
With this victory, Eintracht Frankfurt maintains its second place in the UEFA Europa League group stage and is ideally positioned to reach the round of 16 directly. The next match against AS Roma will be decisive to confirm this qualification.
