This large black smoke came from the site where the installations of the storage company Serlec are located, located at 25 chemin de Mure, in the artisanal zone Les Portes du Dauphiné, in Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu. Its power and impressive height thus attracted all the attention, first of local residents and workers of the ongoing redevelopment of neighboring roads, then of the entire local population.
An important security system put in place
Quickly alerted, firefighters from neighboring fire stations positioned themselves inside this company which guards caravans, motorhomes and individual storage boxes.
Fearing a greater spread, the police, gendarmes and municipal police officers of Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu and Toussieu have condemned the two entrances to the ZA to all traffic.

Fire broke out in two garages
The fire fighters who came in large numbers – around fifty firefighters and 17 engines were engaged in this intervention – immediately took charge of this fire which caused no casualties but whose origin remains to be determined.
It started in two boxes serving as garages where there was a vehicle, tires, batteries and other flammable liquids, hence this thick black smoke. Several water hoses were deployed and the fire was quickly brought under control. At 12:15 p.m., the firefighters began to withdraw.

No casualties were reported but one person was still treated by emergency services, bothered by the smoke.
Present on site, the deputy mayor for Security, Michel Bertrand, followed the progress of the firefighters’ intervention. It now remains to determine the exact causes of this start of fire.
