On January 11 and 12, Jérôme Da Costa shone during the Occitanie Taekwondo Championships in Montpellier. He won the gold medal, after an impressive journey where he continued to show his determination and talent.
Victorious, despite a serious injury…
From his first fight, Jérôme mastered the situation well, blocking an attack from his opponent and quickly gaining the upper hand. Well focused on his final goal — getting on the top step of the podium — he chained victories throughout the rounds, while dealing with pain. Indeed, he fought with a double fracture of his wrist and thumb, an injury he was initially unaware of, but which did not prevent him from continuing his path to victory. This courage and commitment testify to his incredible desire to always surpass himself, even in the most difficult times.
However, after the competition, bad news came to tarnish the party: Jérôme discovered the extent of his injury. A serious fracture, but which in no way spoils the feat he achieved.
-This gold medal completes his record after his recent title of champion of Aveyron, and confirms his comeback in competition after several years of absence. This is a great reward for Jérôme, but also for the AS Taekwondo Koryo club in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, which can be proud to count this taekwondo artist among its members.
Congratulations to Jérôme Da Costa for this magnificent victory, and the whole club wishes him a speedy recovery!
