Lavaur. Buttercups in great shape

One of the association’s particularities is that it operates on a calendar year basis. It is therefore time to take stock for the association. “We closed the year 2024 with 625 members compared to just over 500 last year,” says Marie-Jo Bernard, president of the association. “We have many new members who are young retirees, even if we we also have three centenarians at the club.”

The Boutons d’or du Vallais allow them to get together and participate in activities, undoubtedly contributing to their staying at home by remaining active.

For them, the lotto comes at the top of the popular activities as well as the belote and the meals regularly organized by the association. Some also take part in day trips, which are easier to do when you have pets than “big” trips lasting several days which can be tiring. It is in this great diversity of activities offered that the club finds one of its main assets. Even if the historic record of 792 members was not reached last year, the bad times of the CoVid period and the “trough of the wave” today seem to be forgotten with the arrival of these new members. “Word of mouth works quite well and some have discovered us, for example, during the karaokes that we organize. There are also many newcomers to Lavaur who come to see us,” says Marie-Jo. With these dynamic young retirees, the association continues its momentum.

So, the year is off to a very strong start in terms of registrations for the Buttercups. In two weeks the association counted more than 420 members at the general assembly. Suffice to say that the volunteers of the association who manage the store are not idle during this period dominated by administrative work until the general assembly on Tuesday February 25.
