Nicolas Husson and Catherine De Pauw have lived in the United States for 24 years, 18 of which have been in Los Angeles. On the night of January 7 to 8, the Belgian couple and their son Martin had to evacuate their house to escape the Eaton fire in Altadena. The flames have ravaged everything, only ruins and ashes remain.
The Francophones told Déborah Laurent about the night their lives changed. And after: the silence of assurances; the reconstruction that will have to be done on the ashes of their former home, even if the heart is not there; the war to find temporary accommodation…
The next few months promise to be difficult for the Husson family. To help them, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched, which can be found here.
