After the Congolese Stéphanie Bluetooth in 2024, the Cameroonian Docta Kévin, whose real name is Meyi Nganssik Emile Kevin, won against Daly Cardinal, Doyen Anasse, Petit Gougou and the duo Ministry of Laughter. A look back at the journey of the man who asserts himself as an ambassador of Cameroonian comedy.
The new prize winner RFI Talents du laughter wasted no time before sharing its passion for humor. At only 10 years old, Docta Kévin was already performing memorable sketches like “The Shoe of the Parade”. His first one-man show – “Ma Life” – in which he returns with irony to the significant episodes of his life dates back to the year 2012. But it was not until the following year that he gave up his studies to devote himself fully to his art.
Delightful and educational humor
At the dawn of the 2020s, Docta Kévin wants to go even further. Thus, in 2021, he created the Gospel Comedy Club, a collective today made up of nearly thirty comedians who, on stage, joke about love, religion, or even daily life. In his shows, Docta Kévin offers humor that is certainly enjoyable, but also educational with the aim of entertaining while raising awareness. Between laughter and reflection, the artist intends to touch both the heart and the mind.
Docta Kevin will be awarded the RFI Talents du Rire prize on the occasion of the tenth edition of the “Abidjan capital of laughter” festival, on Sunday February 23, 2025.
