Firefighters from the Victoriaville Fire Safety Service (SSI) were called to fight a fire in an agricultural building on the 7th Rang in Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska on Tuesday evening.

The SSI was alerted at 10:10 p.m. The call already reported a widespread fire.

At least four alarms were sounded at the barracks on Boulevard des -Francs Sud.

In addition, the Victoriaville firefighters called on, for mutual assistance, firefighters from Chesterville and Warwick who came to lend a hand with tanker trucks to transport the water needed in rural areas.

In addition, agents from the SIUCQ MRC d’Arthabaska were also dispatched to the scene to help in particular with the rehabilitation of firefighters having to fight the blaze in very cold weather.

Late evening weather data indicated a temperature of -25 degrees and a wind chill of -30 degrees.

Urgence Bois-Francs paramedics as a preventive measure were also seen on the scene, as were police officers from the Sûreté du Québec.

The firefighters also requested a mechanical excavator on site to help them in their extinguishing work.
