The three young women were released on Sunday after 470 days of captivity. As their last gift in Gaza, they received a paper bag from Hamas.

Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher and Emily Damari, three young women kidnapped from the Nova music festival during the Hamas attack on November 7, 2023, then held hostage in Gaza, were released on Sunday January 19, after the entry into force of the truce.

Held for 470 days by Hamas, the three women were recovered safe and sound by the Red Cross. They were filmed by Israeli media leaving one of the humanitarian aid association’s trucks, in a “good state” of health, before being taken to the IDF and Shin Bet forces, in the Gaza Strip.

With one last gift from Hamas, however: a paper bag with the organization’s logo for each of the former hostages, as we can see in the videos shared by the Israeli army.

According to the Israeli news agency Ynet cited by TF1, these bags contained “souvenirs” of their life in captivity. It includes photos of young women in Hamas jails, a map of the Gaza Strip, and a “certificate” attesting that they were captives.

Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post denounced “cynical play”, saying that “these objects provide a clear insight into the methods of psychological torture used by Hamas on prisoners.”
