The Grand Kartal Hotel, located in Kartalkaya, a ski resort 170 km east of Ankara, was ravaged by a fire on the night of Monday to Tuesday, leaving at least 66 dead and 51 injured. Four people were arrested and taken into custody, including the hotel manager. Hotel employees helped evacuate guests, but witnesses denounced the lack of alarms and smoke detectors.
