Chelsea ended a disastrous six-game winless run in the Premier League, triumphing over relegation-threatened Wolverhampton 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues benefited from contributions from defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Marc Cucurella, in addition to a goal from winger Noni Madueke.

The victory propels Chelsea, who were second in the table just a month ago, above Manchester City and Newcastle into fourth place. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton remain just above the relegation zone, hanging by a thread on goal difference, with Ipswich Town hot on their heels.

Determined to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, the home side opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Tosin expertly converted a shot from close range. However, their lead was threatened when goalkeeper Robert Sanchez made an error, allowing Wolves to equalize just before half-time. Sanchez let a corner slip away, and Matt Doherty took the opportunity to power the ball into the back of the net.

Concerns were growing among Chelsea supporters, recalling their team’s recent tendency to squander advantages. But Cucurella allayed their fears with a well-aimed shot in the 60th minute, after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, making his first league start, deflected Madueke’s cross.

Just five minutes later, Madueke sealed the victory with a header, following a Trevoh Chalobah attempt, ensuring the ball crossed the line. Chelsea now sit on 40 points after 22 matches, falling ten points behind leaders Liverpool and remaining four points behind Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, while maintaining a two-point lead over Manchester City and Newcastle.

Manager Enzo Maresca must have been pleased with the return of club captain Reece James, who made his much-anticipated return after a series of injuries. Chalobah’s return also strengthened the defensive framework due to injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

However, Chelsea will be without defender Levi Colwill and midfielders Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez as they prepare for a tough match against reigning champions Manchester City this Saturday.
