After a new sales record in December 2024, the life simulation Stardew Valley received a new patch which will relieve more than one player. Here’s what it fixes.
While waiting for the release of Haunted Chocolatier, the next game from Eric Barone (ConcernedApe), the creator of Stardew Valley is still on cloud nine. As of December 2024, the farming simulation has sold more than 41 million copies across all platforms. It’s a hit absolutely everywhere and especially on Nintendo Switch with 7.9 million copies sold since its arrival on the console on October 5, 2017. On these very good sales figures, a new update has arrived and here is what which changes.
The new Stardew Valley January 2025 update
The Nintendo Switch is largely responsible for the success of Stardew Valley, even if it was on PC that Eric Barone’s indie game achieved most of its sales. Unfortunately, Switch players have been facing issues since the release of version 1.6. Due to this update, users are experiencing crashes when divorcing their in-game partner, and are experiencing issues with the Raccoon’s Wife’s store. But a few days ago, ConcernedApe rekindled hope by indicating that a patch was still in development.
Well there is good, even excellent news, since the highly anticipated update finally comes to the rescue of Stardew Valley players on Nintendo Switch. « The patch for Switch has been released. It fixes the Raccoon Wife’s Shop bug, divorce related crashes, random rain generation and a few other things. Due to the random rain generation fix, there may be occasional “retroactive” changes, such as raccoon requests or item spawns. » detailed the sole developer of the phenomenon game.
In the conversation following this post X, ConcernedApe reveals that another Stardew Valley bug appeared with this update. « Did this patch introduce an issue with giving gifts to villagers? It seems so… We are looking into the matter. This will be fixed too ». Obviously, the creator will also have to look into a freeze which occurs for some when opening the Stardew Valley inventory on Nintendo Switch.
