With 20 aces and 58 winning moves, Sonego brought his punch once again and produced some very enjoyable Tennis. Here he is for the first time in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam. He had never done it better than third round in Australia. The puncher seems capable of anything and will face Ben Shelton Wednesday. The 55th in the world will still have one shot to play. “I learn from my mistakes, from the experiences I live and I try to change”
“I think I changed some things in my tennis this pre-season that allowed me to make a qualitative leap, in terms of my backhand, my return and my serve, and I have to thank my team for that But the most important thing is that my mentality has strengthened,” he explained at a press conference.
“Everyone has their own time and story, I have mine. I learn from my mistakes, from the experiences I live and I try to change. I must say that my luck was to meet people who helped me get there, like my new team, my girlfriend, my family. All these people made me realize that I had to get out of my comfort zone. There is obviously a gulf between saying and doing. At first I struggled because there were so many changes and it made me question something a bit. In the end, with the work I got used to it and everything seems a little easier.”
