Analysis of Fuel Prices in : A Continuous Fluctuation

French motorists are increasingly concerned about changes in fuel prices, a trend which has continued to attract attention over the past year. Recent data highlights notable changes in the prices of Unleaded 98 (E5), Unleaded 95 (E5), Unleaded 95 (E10), BioEthanol E85, Diesel (B7) and LPG. This article explores these developments in detail in order to offer you an overview of the dynamics of the fuel market in France.

Lead Free 98 (E5)

Currently, the price of Unleaded 98 (E5) stands at €1.897/l. Over the past week, this fuel recorded a slight increase of 0.7 cents per liter (+0.40%). Over one month, the increase is more significant with an increase of 8.7 cents per liter (+4.80%). On an annual basis, however, the change is less with an increase of one cent per liter (+0.50%).

These fluctuations reflect high volatility in the fuel market, often influenced by factors such as geopolitical tensions, variations in demand and supply of crude oil globally.

Lead Free 95 (E5)

Unleaded 95 (E5), one of the most popular fuels in France, is currently set at €1.822/l. This variant has seen notable increases over time: 3.2 cents per liter (+1.80%) since last week and 9.0 cents per liter (+5.20%) since last month, in addition a slight annual increase of 1.1 cents per liter (+0.60%).

These continued increases underline an upward trend which can have a direct impact on the daily travel costs of the French, particularly for those who use their personal vehicle for work or long distances.

Lead Free 95 (E10)

The price of Unleaded 95 (E10), a fuel appreciated for its purchase cost generally lower than that of SP95, is currently €1.796/l. Over a period of one week, the price increased by 0.9 cents per liter (+0.50%), and over a month, it increased by 8.9 cents per liter (+5.20%). Interestingly, over a year, the price saw a slight decrease of 0.1 cent per liter (-0.10%).

This adjustment could be due to a combination of a slight improvement in supply and competition between suppliers attempting to capture market share by stabilizing or lowering prices for consumers.

BioEthanol E85

BioEthanol E85, recognized for its more ecological properties and its attractive price, is currently offered at €0.805/l. This fuel saw a minimal price drop of 0.2 cents per liter (-0.20%) during the week. Over the month, the price increased by 1.3 cents per liter (+1.60%), but over the year, it suffered a much more significant drop of 10.9 cents per liter (-11.90%). .

This reduction on an annual basis could attract more motorists to BioEthanol, thus offering a longer-term alternative to the high costs of other fuels.

Diesel (B7)

Diesel (B7) remains the fuel of choice for a good number of drivers of diesel vehicles in France, with a current price of €1.756/l. It showed an increase of 3.2 cents per liter (+1.90%) over the week and an increase of 11.3 cents per liter (+6.90%) over the month, although the price fell slightly of 1.1 cents per liter (-0.60%) over one year.

The prevalence of diesel vehicles on the French market means that these developments have far-reaching implications for many consumers, directly influencing purchasing decisions and driving habits.

GPL

Finally, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is offered at €1.005/l. The price fell very slightly by 0.2 cents per liter (-0.20%) during the last week, and it increased moderately
