RC (1-1): The notes of the very frustrating draw of the Phocaeans

Olympique de concedes a frustrating draw at the Vélodrome against RC (1-1). RCSA opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of play thanks to Emanuel Emegha. After several changes of men and tactics, OM regained control of the game in the second half. The equalizer came from Mason Greenwood from the penalty spot.

Despite situations and a lot of will, Marseille will never find the fault a second time in the opposing area. The Marseille club does not take advantage of the misstep of AS Monaco or OL to move ahead in the standings.

Geronimo Rulli can do nothing about the goal conceded through Emegha. In the only big action from Strasbourg, the Argentinian goalkeeper pushed Emegha to close the corner.

Luis Henrique

Luis Henrique often creates differences as soon as he is served in good conditions. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. His shot from a two-man corner was the best action of the first period for OM.

Henrique almost scored one of the goals of the season with a solitary rush ending with a shot on the post. He was one of those who sounded the revolt. He clearly lacked success with his shots.

Leonardo Balerdi

Leonardo Balerdi almost gave Strasbourg a ready-made goal on a missed restart in the 16th minute. A very dangerous and avoidable shift in concentration. The OM captain was also fooled twice by Emegha on the 0-1 goal on the same call in the same action.

Balerdi saved his team from a tense cross in the 48th minute. It came from two successive losses of the ball on his part. It was again he who covered Emegha on the enormous action suffered in the second half.

Derek Cornelius

Derek Cornelius is in a tricky position in a raiser role on his bad foot. The Canadian international must each time return to the left or try from the right with more or less success. Defensively, he was not caught even on goal, he can’t do anything. Perhaps he could have left earlier to anticipate the call from the Strasbourg striker or at least tighten the marking. He came out during intermission.

Pol Lirola (5/10) replaced it with more ease on the restart but just as much difficulty in holding the counter as well as the depth.

Lilian Brassier

Lilian Brassier did not at all follow or anticipate Emegha’s double call on the 0-1 goal. However, he is facing him. The French defender had the confidence of De Zerbi to continue the second half after the exit of Cornelius, a courageous decision.

Brassier is both reassuring in certain phases of play and worrying in others. When we restarted, we saw better.

Ulisses Garcia did not make the slightest offensive difference and was satisfied with far too simplistic calls. The Swiss international was supposed to take the lane to support the offensives but never did it correctly. Without speed or real quality of elimination, it is difficult to achieve this. A tasteless match in our opinion.

Peter-Emile Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had fewer solutions to restart the balls without Rongier in particular. The Danish international was sometimes uncomfortable taking the game into his own hands. Several of his recoveries led to actions including that of Greenwood in the 46th. It is a hardworking and voluntary environment with the character that pushes the team to the top.

Bilal Nadir was the author of some interesting calls in the heart of the game from afar. The playmaker used his left paw wisely to direct the play.

On the other hand, he was at fault for Emegha’s goal, too late to come out on Andrey Santos. It’s too little to influence a team like OM.

Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood had two hot balls to exploit but each time looked too complicated. The Englishman did not try hard enough to stand out to make a difference. The Marseille striker had a big chance right after the locker room and sent it wide.

Without trembling, Greenwood equalized with a furious penalty on the hour mark. He must do better and could have had more influence.

Neal Maupay - The Best Of Neal Maupay

Neal Maupay is still impressive in the duel with his back to goal, capable of resisting big guys. The French striker has still not often made the expected sharp call in the area. This lack of movement (or an injury) cost him his exit at the break.

Robinio Vaz (7/10) replaced him with a lot of energy and mobility in attack. He was the one who got the penalty leading to 1-1. He had the 2-1 ball at the end of his foot but was rewarded on a ball that arrived quickly. Another situation could have led to a happier ending in injury time.

Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot had several counter actions without being able to find the right gesture with the pass or strike. The French international ran a lot in the void, not served or at least not enough. The Blues midfielder went very low in the second half to help his midfielder bring out the balls. We saw him a little more but without any real defensive or offensive difference.
