Ligue 1 predictions for Sunday: Marseille faces Strasbourg

This Sunday, two teams threatened by relegation face off in Ligue 1, while Saint-Étienne hosts Nantes in a crucial match at the bottom of the table.

Heading into this weekend, the visitors are slightly ahead of their hosts in the standings, thanks to a better goal difference, making the encounter at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard all the more decisive.

Eliminated from the Coupe de France by Marseille in December, the locals should be in better shape than a Nantes team which played during the week in the cup.

We therefore think that Saint-Étienne could win in a hard-fought match against an opponent who is struggling to obtain results away from home.

In an attempt to move away from unacceptable relegation, Reims will welcome Le Havrewhich seems to be destined for Ligue 2, at the Stade Auguste-Delaune for another Ligue 1 match this Sunday afternoon.

The Reds and Whites are aiming to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the top flight after their setback against Nice, while Le Club Doyen looks to end a worrying run of defeats in Ligue 1.

We think: Reims 2-1 Le Havre

Reims, whose last victory in Ligue 1 dates back to November against Le Havre, hopes to repeat this feat on Sunday after a series of disappointing results. Club Doyen must start picking up points to ensure their survival in Ligue 1, although we reckon the visitors won’t achieve this at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.

Angers receives Auxerre this weekend, hoping to climb the rankings of the Ligue 1 and move away from the relegation zone.

With only three points and three places separating them in the standings, there is a lot at stake for these two teams to achieve victory this weekend.

We think: Angers 1-1 Auxerre

Auxerre haven’t tasted victory in over two months, and with several players injured this week, they won’t be at their full potential. We believe this match will end with a draw, as Angers look to extend their unbeaten run at the start of the year.

Marseille will seek to consolidate its position in the top 3 by welcoming Strasbourg at the Stade Vélodrome this Sunday.

The team’s form, particularly at home, has seen a significant improvement in recent weeks, with a good gap to teams below in the standings.

We think: Marseille 3-1 Strasbourg

The home performance improved significantly after a difficult start to the season, when Marseille had only collected five points in their first five matches at the Vélodrome. At this rate, another victory could be on the horizon. Although Strasbourg are in excellent form, the opponents they have recently faced are not of the same caliber as Marseille, and their 28-year wait for victory here may well continue.
