Australian Open – Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals by dropping a set
Winner of the US Open in 2023, the 20-year-old American won 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 against the Swiss, Olympic champion in 2021 in Tokyo.
Irregular in service and broken at 5-5 in the first set, Gauff then took the upper hand in heat above 30°C.
Coco Gauff had not lost a single set since the title match of the WTA Finals at the beginning of November, won against the Chinese Qinwen Zheng (5th).
