The Lions of Compiègne have their hearts on their sleeves and want to make it known. This Saturday, January 18, 2025, the hockey club challenges the Val d’Oise firefighters. Paid entries will be donated to a local association, helping the municipality’s medico-social action center, which is lacking funding.

It’s a one-of-a-kind evening. From 8:30 p.m., this Saturday January 18, the Compiègne ice rink is organizing a charity match. The fourth division of the town’s hockey club welcomes the Val d’Oise fire brigade group. To attend, the entry ticket is set at 3 euros, free for children under 6 years old.

All profits will be donated to the association Les Enfants au Singulier, which helps young people with disabilities. “The idea came quite quickly a few weeks ago. It’s the first time we’ve done this”explains Mickaël Godefroy, head of Lions D4.

“We wanted to have a friendly match, then a friend suggested we have a solidarity evening. We didn’t expect such success anyway. The venue will be full. It’s sold out”. Around 400 people are expected.

“We are obviously delighted with this event. It’s original, especially with firefighters, it’s the meeting of several worlds”rejoices Henri Boutignon, president of the beneficiary association, created around ten years ago. With around twenty volunteers, he helps the town’s early medico-social action center (CAMPS).

This structure takes care of and guides children with disabilities under the age of six. “The teams provide therapies and care to support young people as early as possible in their disability, whether physical or psychological”explains Henri Boutignon.

Problem: the Compiègne CAMPS, although helped by the department and Health Insurance, lacks funds according to the association manager. Henri Boutignon assures us: “We don’t have a big budget either, we rely heavily on everyone’s generosity, anything is up for grabs”.

It’s a great association that we’re putting forward.

Mickaël Godefroy, head of division 4 of the Hockey Club

Objective for the evening: to raise at least 1500 euros. Donations will be used to finance therapeutic games, cultural outings, parties or even the purchase of health equipment such as wheelchairs.

An event which will be successful according to Mickaël Godefroy. “This enthusiasm of the municipality also shows another way of looking at disability, people are more and more invested, we feel it. It’s a great association that we are putting forward, and we can only be proud”.
