The rumored LEGO Spider-Man Set 2 is not only expected to improve on the minifigures and pieces from the original set, but it is also expected to transform the train.
Among the many improvements being talked about, the LEGO Spider-Man 2 set could and should feature, there’s one aspect of the original set that needs to be revisited in the reported model, and with a major upgrade of its own. According to reliable Instagram user Clay Brick (via Brick Tap sources Boo-urns and Bartman), the LEGO group could revisit the train battle scene from the 2004 Spider-Man 2 movie.
With 393 pieces for $49.99, that’s just 100 pieces more than the original 4,855 in Spider-Man’s Train Rescue, which used a considerable number of them for the city’s useful brick-built subway car exhibits and recreates a means of transportation emblematic. Given the context of the scene, it’s entirely inevitable to include this train in the supposed setting again, but it might be wise to set expectations in advance.
Hopefully the train we’re talking about won’t be remade in the same way as Hidden Side’s vehicle 70430 Newbury Metro, which only depicted the front of the carriage as part of a subway facade. This model includes 348 pieces, which shows how small the budget would be for any kind of recreation of the wagon with more detail than the 2004 set.
Fortunately, all hope is not lost for an improved version of the subway in the box set we are talking about. While many fan-made creations depict highly detailed versions of these trains, bricktron91 on Rebrickable shared a set using 397 pieces. This would mean that the entire rumored Marvel set would only consist of the train, however, which is unlikely.
-Instead, Pied_de_fer exists a smaller version (but similar in size to the 2004 set) but only uses a little over 200 pieces, leaving plenty of pieces for additional scenery, gameplay features and parts for figurines. This build is shown using the roller coaster track rather than the standard track, but it wouldn’t be difficult for an official design to conform to the latter instead.
Your LEGO community has shown that upgrading the original Marvel It is possible to make a subway car model while keeping a realistic parts budget and hopefully a new version of the train will be available later this year for personalized exhibitions in New York. For now, 76321 Spider-Man 2 Train Battle is just a rumor and should be taken with caution.

LEGO has been part of my life since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down the 7657 AT-ST to me. He guided me through my early years, through school and ultimately to my journalism degree. I have always proudly displayed my entire collection, including my many Ninjago sets, my favorite of all the LEGO Group themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I’m an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
