despite his three-point game, he seems to have lost his place on the first line

Ivan Demidov is having a big year with SKA. The forward, who has 35 points in 44 games this season, manages to shine even if his ice time really hasn’t always been there.

He’s really, really talented.

That said, in recent weeks, we have seen him in a much more prominent role. He plays a lot more… and unsurprisingly, the points follow, he who scored three in his last match.

His trainer even (finally) threw flowers at him publicly.

But obviously, his great performance and the compliments of his coach do not seem to have been enough to keep him on the first trio. Indeed, in a video published by the SKA, we see Demidov training with a blue sweater… and the blue sweater means that he trained on the second line.

The club only plays on Tuesday, which means that could still change… but Roman Rotenberg seems to want to stir his soup (again).

It should be noted that despite Demidov’s recent individual successes, SKA is struggling these days. In the team’s last game, for example, Demidov’s three points weren’t enough, as the club lost.

The team’s 25-15-5 record is not satisfactory considering the high expectations. Unless there is a real rout, it will be enough to make the playoffs… but SKA will not enter as the big favorite. Remember, however, that even an early elimination of the club would not bring Demidov to Montreal this season.

To return to kidthat said, it means that he continues to move from trio to trio within his team. He clearly seems to be a piece of the solution for SKA… and even if he remains in the top-6, he seems to be on the way to losing his place on the first trio even if the last few days could not have gone better for him.

I wonder how Demidov takes this, especially since during this time, in Montreal, the trios are more stable than ever…
