Avila, 23, was recruited by Antwerp in 2022 from Boca Juniors. He established himself in his first season in Mark van Bommel’s starting lineup, notably participating in the conquest of the historic cup-championship double. Avila was transferred to Ajax in the summer of 2023 but played little with the Amsterdam club: he only took part in eight games during the 2023-2024 season, before tearing his cruciate ligaments in January 2024. . He has not played since then.
