the essential
The mayor of the town of Gouesnach, in Finistère, wishes to boost the birth rate in his village by offering a gold ingot for each birth.
This Saturday, January 18, during the wish ceremony, the mayor of Gouesnach, near Quimper in Finistère, Jean-Pierre Marc deplores the lack of newborns: “six fewer births: that is not going well at all. He we have to get our act together,” reports West France.
To boost the birth rate, its municipal team had a rather original idea: offering a gold ingot as a birth gift. Previously, the mayor gave a blanket. As our colleagues explain, gold is a universal symbol of wealth and prosperity.
-Gold as a lucky charm
Previously, gold was used during celebrations such as the birth of a child or baptism: it was a lucky symbol. What is missing is that the children’s assistant as well as the finance assistant, who is more reserved on this project, come to an agreement so that the idea sees the light of day.
