Everton manager David Moyes has shared his vision for the role of the backs in the team’s play ahead of the Premier League match against Tottenham on January 19.

“I would like to see our two backs get on the pitch more often. When I was here before, we had perhaps the best passer in the Premier League — Leighton Baines. We would like to revive connections like those between Baines and Pienaar through the past.

For example, with Mykolenko we want him to participate in attacks more frequently and be involved in offensive play. Recently, he delivered a superb cross that Doucouré almost converted, but missed. We need to increase the frequency of such moments,” Moyes told the club’s official website.

This season, Mykolenko has played 20 matches for Everton, contributing with 1 assist.

The showdown between Everton and Tottenham will take place on January 19, kick-off at 4:00 p.m.
