The Italian Jannik Sinner, seeded No. 1, won three sets to zero (6-3, 6-4, 6-2) against the American Marcos Giron and qualified for the round of 16 of the ‘Australian Open at Melbourne Park, Saturday night session.

Sinner, number one in the ATP rankings, will face the winner of the upcoming match between Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic and Dane Holger Rune, seeded No. 13 in the round of 16 of the 2025 Australian Open.

The Italian player had dismissed the Chilean Nicolas Jarry (7-6 [2]7-6 [5]6-1), and Australian wild card Tristan Schoolkate (4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3), before this match against Giron, ranked 46th in the ATP, on Saturday.

The American won against the German Yannick Hanfmann (2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 7-5), and needed five sets to dominate the Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry (7-5 , 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4).
