Information scrutinized by Auditors

The weekend is the perfect time to take a step back. All week, contradictory statements proliferate in the political class and fake news multiplies on our screens. So to help you see more clearly, the TF1-LCI Verifiers review the news (new window). We suggest that you find three checks to remember from the last seven days every Saturday.

Crit’Air 3 vehicles banned in ZFEs: does this measure really concern 10 million French people?

This week, we looked at low-emission zones, which have been prohibited for Crit’Air 3 vehicles since January 1. No less than “10 million French people” owners of these models “were refused access to 30 towns in the territory”tells us the National Rally. To find out if the measure affected so many motorists, our team analyzed the official figures provided by different ministries.

Of the 39.3 million vehicles in circulation, 2.8 million were already banned in ZFEs before January 1, Crit’Air 4 and 5. It appears that since January 1, there are 7.6 million vehicles additional people who are affected — a little more than 10 million in total. The estimate used by the RN therefore appears to be reliable.

19% vaccinated against the flu: how can we explain this very low rate among caregivers?

While the peak of the flu epidemic has not yet passed in , hospitals are already overwhelmed and some have even triggered the white plan to relieve the influx of patients. In this context, the vaccination coverage of healthcare personnel appears to be very low compared to the general population targeted by the vaccine: 19% compared to 47%.

-

This can be explained by several reasons, the High Health Authority and the unions we interviewed explain to us. And in particular by “the imperfect effectiveness of the vaccine” or by respecting barrier gestures by caregivers, which would be seen as a form of immunization. For its part, the HAS has not completely closed the debate around compulsory vaccination against the virus among health personnel.

Ceasefire in Gaza: what do we know about the number of Israeli hostages still held in the enclave?

After more than 15 months of Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire agreement is due to come into force this Sunday, January 19. This provides for the release, initially, of 33 hostages including two French people against more than a thousand Palestinian prisoners. Before this first phase takes place, we have chosen to take stock of the situation of the Hamas hostages. Since October 7, 117 people have been released alive and 98 people are still in captivity in Palestinian territory, four of whom have been for several years. Around sixty of them are presumed to be alive.
