Omar Marmoush is set to join Manchester City, as Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed ongoing discussions with the Premier League giants regarding the Egyptian striker’s potential transfer.
Marmoush was absent from the squad during Frankfurt’s impressive 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. However, he joined his teammates on the field after the match, appearing to say goodbye to fans who were applauding his contributions.
“We have been in discussions with a club, and it seems that club is Manchester City. Our communication has been very active in recent days,” sports director Markus Krösche said in an interview, reinforcing the likelihood of Marmoush’s departure. He suggested a move to City represents a “huge opportunity” for the talented centre-forward.
Reports suggest the transfer amount for Marmoush could reach €75 million (approximately $77.1 million), with an additional €5 million (approximately $5.14 million) potential linked to bonuses performance.
-This season, Marmoush has established himself as one of the top scorers in European football, scoring 15 goals in just 17 appearances in the Bundesliga, putting him just behind top scorer Harry Kane. In total, he has amassed an impressive tally of 20 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.
A move to Manchester City would mark a significant step in the rapid rise of Marmoush, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2023 from Wolfsburg, where he scored just five goals the previous season. He is under contract with Frankfurt until 2027.
On a related note, Manchester City recently extended the contract of their star striker, Erling Haaland, until 2034.
