In the guest section of The secret box this Friday, we will meet David Douillet. From the tatami mats to the political arena, the man has lived many lives. Judge for yourself, before becoming Minister of Sports from September 2011 to May 2012, then deputy in Yvelines and Vice-President of the Île-de-France Regional Council in 2015, he accumulated titles in judo. A quadruple world champion, he was also a two-time Olympic medalist. A career like no other, thanks to which he met his current wife, Vanessa Carrara.

Between David Douillet and his partner, everything came down to a UMP back-to-school banquet in 2014. Under the banner of the party which would later become Les Républicains, Vanessa Carrara, hypnotherapist, was municipal councilor of Bourg -en-Bresse. In the columns of Gala, the former Judo champion returned to his meeting with her: “I knew that I had just met someone exceptional with whom I interacted a lot, with whom I wanted to live. It happened when I had been living with my wife for twenty years. We were extremely complicit. The one who shared his life at that time, as he describes it, was Valérie Rouault. Together for many years, they married in 2001. She worked in communications, notably with David Douillet, until taking charge of the public relations agency BYTHEWAY. Already separated, they will make the decision to divorce in 2016. Still in the columns of GalaValérie Rouault looks back on their separation: “I regained a taste for life by being honest with myself. Replaying the match is a waste of time. As for ruminating about revenge, it’s stupidity which prevents me from moving forward. Since then, I have found confidence in myself and the desire to want to, a feeling that had been missing for several years, at fifty, it was time for it to come back.” Already father of Jérémie, Myriam and Matteo, David celebrated the birth of Blanche in September 2016, born from his union with Vanessa Carrara. In August 19, 2017, they said yes to each other at the town hall of Certines in Ain.
