Thierry Henry, Rudi Garcia… Who will coach Belgium according to the bookmakers?

Thierry Henry is the bookmakers’ favorite to take over from Domenico Tedesco.

Even before the dismissal of Domenico Tedesco at the head of the Red Devils became official this Friday, the bookmakers already had their favorite to take the reins of the Belgian selection.

Thierry Henry, who knows the house well having been Roberto Martinez’s assistant there between 2016 and 2018, is the big favorite with odds of 1.65. Former Olympique de and Olympique Lyonnais coach Rudi Garcia appears as his main competitor (odds of 3.00), while Mark Van Bommel completes the podium of favorites with odds of 9.00 .

Betting operators therefore seem to favor an international profile to succeed Tedesco, as Belgium has now become accustomed to. Further down this ranking, two Belgian technicians emerge: Philippe Clement and Michel Preud’homme, listed respectively at 11 and 16. With them, former German coach Joachim Löw (11) and Erik ten Hag (16), currently without a club since his dismissal from Manchester United, are also cited.

More improbable names bring up the rear, like Massimiliano Allegri, Xavi Hernandez (both at 21) or even Julen Lopetegui (31), a sign that the bookmakers are mainly considering a battle between Thierry Henry and Rudi Garcia for the position.
