The fire spread into the home of a family in , injuring all its members. An investigation into attempted homicide by an organized gang was opened and entrusted to the judicial police.

The arsonists left their victims, a family from Miramas made up of two five-year-old children and their parents, no chance. During the night from Thursday to Friday, their apartment in Miramas was ravaged by the flames of an arson fire.

As confirmed by the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor’s office, the blaze surprised the family around 2 a.m. while they were at their home, immediately trapping them. The fire quickly spread inside the apartment before threatening the entrance hall of the entire building, leading to an intervention by firefighters from the Bouches-du-Rhône departmental fire and rescue service ( SDIS 13).

Investigation entrusted to the Marseille PJ

In total, 46 firefighters and 16 engines were mobilized to contain the flames, which spread to a second apartment. According to firefighters, eleven tenants were evacuated and taken care of. The family targeted by the fire, for its part, was seriously injured: despite the efforts made by the emergency services, the vital prognosis of the two children and their mother was in jeopardy this Friday afternoon.

“The initial investigations made it possible to conclude with certainty that the fire had a criminal origin”specifies the prosecution in a press release, adding that investigations had been opened for “attempted homicide by an organized gang” and “deliberate destruction by fire by an organized gang likely to create a danger for people”.
