Saint-Just-Malmont: “Yes, the gendarmerie will be there”

A record crowd attended the 2025 wishes ceremony in Saint-Just-Malmont. Around 240 people (active forces, traders, associations, residents, parents and children of the Municipal Youth Council) listened to Frédéric Girodet’s speech.

With the help of a slideshow, the mayor looked back on a year full of achievements. Starting with the development of the town, almost finished (only the plantations and signage are missing), the extension of the health center with an additional 400 m² to expand the care offer. A podiatrist is expected in February and a dentist within a few months. Four practices are in reserve to welcome new practitioners.

Renatured Sambalou

The Sambalou renaturation project has several objectives: to enable the ecological continuity of the stream by uncovering it, to combat flooding in the Pêcher sector, to offer activities for young people and teenagers, children’s games, picnic tables, picnic, benches and bike park, allow walking along the stream and strengthen intergenerational links.

The town hall, the town’s brand image

The renovation of the town hall began with the asbestos removal and demolition of certain parts. Here too, the choice is motivated by anticipated energy savings (currently €49,000 in electricity and gas bills), the aim of offering better working conditions, of giving a better brand image of the common especially at weddings.

The gendarmerie has at least the sign

Where is the gendarmerie, promised repeatedly, validated, delayed? “Yes it will happen! », insists the mayor who recognizes “a lack of visibility on the opening date of the transitional brigade in Saint-Just”. “The sign is up,” notes Frédéric Girodet. Three gendarmes have joined the brigade community. A fourth is expected.

The demolition and study of the Sodemetex company, which will house the future barracks, is the responsibility of the Semène community of communes. The acquisition amounts to €620,000, with aid of €496,000 from the State’s brownfield fund. The €124,000 will have to be paid by the municipality which, incidentally, benefits from an 800 m2 building in perfect condition, “useful for the technical services and the festival committee”.

Other projects for 2025

Among the other 2025 projects, the municipality wants to create a multi-activity space in “Malmont”, at the old stadium. She also wants to market the Cheynet site in the town center for the development of a residence for independent elderly people. Project management studies will be launched for the repair of the tennis courts.
