Where, when and at what price to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2?
When ?
Nintendo has a habit of making players wait between the announcement date of the console and its official release to retailers. For example, the Switch OLED was announced in July 2021 and released three months later, on October 8, 2021.
This time, Nintendo says nothing about its commercial calendar, but provides a date to preview the console during a dedicated event called “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience”. The latter will be held from April 2 to April 6 in Paris, and until June in other cities around the world such as London, Berlin, Tokyo, New York…
We can therefore consider a console release for June or July 2025but the launch of pre-orders should begin before then.

Will it be worth it to upgrade from a Standard Switch or OLED to a Switch 2?
The subject of cost inevitably leads to this question: is it absolutely necessary to upgrade to this new model if you already have a Switch? It all depends on your situation, here is what we recommend depending on the two scenarios:
- You have a Nintendo Switch Standard: For owners of the first generation of Switch, it’s safe to say that this will probably be a good thing if you can afford it and have, of course, enjoyed the Switch experience. You will gain in autonomy (big weak point of the standard Switch), in size and image quality, and handling.
- You have a Nintendo Switch OLED : For the Switch OLED, the change is less obvious at the moment, and we advise you to wait at least for the announcement of the technical specifications of the console and, at best, for the first tests of the model to see if this Switch 2 really scores a break with the OLED model.
There’s also a world where you don’t have a Nintendo Switch at home yet.
