Naomi Osaka retires, Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 at the Australian Open

A heartbreak for Naomi Osaka. The Japanese, already forced to retire in the final of the Auckland tournament, was unable to complete her third round against Belinda Bencic at the Australian Open. The former world No. 1 called it quits at the end of the first set, lost in the tie-break while leading 5-2 and served to win this set (7-6 [3]ab.). She was in visible pain in the abdominal area, as in New Zealand, and had difficulty expressing herself fully during service.
