Development of local football / National technical center: A rehabilitation project costing 2.6 billion launched yesterday

The Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project of the National Technical Center, located in the town of Bingerville, was launched yesterday, Thursday, January 16. The project includes the construction of 6 new buildings and the rehabilitation of the swimming pool. All for a completion time of 12 months. Several R+1 buildings dedicated to catering, gymnastics, training, a medical center and a building dedicated to the storage of equipment and materials and the rehabilitation of the relaxation area, particularly the swimming pool.

With a total cost of 2.6 billion CFA francs or 4,341,723 USD, the project benefits entirely from financial support from FIFA Forward funds, which is FIFA’s flagship program for the development of world football. Indeed, FIFA Forward is the largest sports development program in the world, based on a concept of equitably redistributing FIFA’s revenues between 211 Member Associations. Adjé Silas Metch, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Minister of Sports and Living Environment, announced on behalf of the Head of Government Robert Beugré Mambé, that through this project, FIFA and CAF provide a practical response to the thorny problem of the development of local football, regarding the training and development of local football. “The National Technical Football Center, as presented by the president of the FIF, offers itself as a real instrument of human development which offers additional opportunities for integration to young people (…) This project is also likely to consolidate the status of sub-regional football leader. “, he said.

President Gianni Infantino, head of FIFA, addressed the assembly by video. According to him, the ceremony of laying the first stone for the renovation of the National Technical Center of the Ivorian Football Federation is symbolic. “This symbolic gesture marks the start of an ambitious project bringing dynamism and a future for football in Ivory Coast. On behalf of FIFA, I would like to express our pride in supporting this project which demonstrates our constant commitment to supporting the construction of modern infrastructures which are essential to professionalize football and to train a new generation of talents,” said he declared. Clearly, the infrastructure modernization project will make it possible, on the one hand, to increase the reception capacity of the Bingerville Technical Football Center, and on the other hand to modernize and revitalize the performance of Ivorian football teams. It should be noted that several presidents of sister Federations were present, notably Samuel Eto’o of the Cameroon Football Federation.
