The Canadian dollar continues to fall. With the arrival of Donald Trump, who will be sworn in on Monday, it is not impossible to see our dollar at .65 US cents.

The Desjardins Movement published a report in which we reported a possible decrease in the value of the Canadian dollar, if Donald Trump carried out his threat to impose tariffs on us in different sectors of activity.

Listen to Hendrix Vachon, senior economist at Mouvement Desjardins, explain how Trump’s arrival in power could affect the value of the Canadian dollar, on the show La commission THURSDAY.

The economist explained that this devaluation would be due to the drop in demand for the Canadian currency and a possible recession leading to a drop in interest rates in Canada.

He stressed that this is a hypothetical scenario and that their main scenario does not foresee the application of tariffs of 25%.
