The case concerns a murder which was committed in June 1990, in the Saint-Aubin woods, near Evry, in the region. A man, Gilbert G. 43, was found tied to a tree, with a bullet in his head.

The serial killer François Verove aka the “Grêlé” is being talked about again. While he committed suicide and his body was found in September 2021 in Grau-du-Roi, in , in an apartment rented on Airbnb, a few kilometers from his home in La Grande-Motte, his name reappears in a new business.

According to information from BFMTV, the “cold case” pole reopened the “Grêlé” file, because he suspects the former gendarme of being at the origin of a murder which was committed on June 6, 1990, in the woods of Saint-Aubin, near Evry, in the Paris region.

The victim, Gilbert G. 43 years old, an industrial designer, was found tied to a tree with a bullet in her head. On site, investigators discovered a PA MAC 50 ball, the same ammunition that is used by the gendarmes with their service weapon.

A customer with a tricolor card

But why is justice interested in François Verove? Still according to our colleagues, the victim’s checkbook would have been used for the purchase of a VCR by a customer who, according to the seller interviewed by investigators, had presented a tricolor card like that possessed by the police.

Moreover, the knot that allowed Gilbert G to be tied. could be his signature and the serial killer could also have been in possession of ammunition like the one that had been found.

Finally, the suspect had also bought a motorcycle in Seine-et-with a checkbook that had been stolen. It is still unclear whether it belonged to the victim.

“I always wondered who attacked him”

Speaking to Paris Match, the victim’s widow indicated that “my husband and I didn’t have only moved to a new village a year ago, In our new house, still under construction, no one knew us, so I didn’t say anything. To those who met him before his death, I only mentioned one accident. And then, I was scared. For 35 years I always wondered who did it and I was always afraid that someone would come to my door and attack me too.”
