Calm weather but still very cold

The weather forecast for the weekend suggests the possibility of light snowfall in the plains, particularly between the northeast and the south of the basin. Guillaume Séchet, meteorologist and creator of the Météo-Villes site, explained on Wednesday that snowflakes could “a little whitening of the ground in places, but it won’t be massive snow.”

Beyond the snowfall, temperatures remain marked by widespread frosts. Other departments on alert for floods and avalanches

In parallel, 19 other departments are on yellow alert for other meteorological phenomena, mainly floods and avalanche risks. Among the departments affected by the floods are Aisne, Ardennes, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Eure, Loire-Atlantique and Seine-Maritime. Avalanche risks concern mountainous areas such as Hautes-Alpes, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie.

Despite the winter conditions, the weather should remain calm in the coming days thanks to the presence of an anticyclone. “The weather will remain calm over the next few days, the anticyclone will not move”, said Guillaume Séchet (actu.fr). However, caution is still required, particularly in areas where the floors are likely to become slippery due to the effect of ice. It is therefore advisable to remain vigilant tomorrow so as not to be surprised by snow in the departments concerned.
