► Explosions in kyiv during British Prime Minister’s visit
An air siren followed by loud explosions sounded in kyiv on Thursday January 16, as a drone flew over the city center during the visit of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who came to sign a security partnership with Ukraine.

The Ukrainian army said in a statement that it had captured 27 Russian soldiers in the Russian region of Kursk, a small part of which has been controlled by kyiv forces since August 2024.
“In recent days, 27 enemy soldiers have been captured during the fighting” in the Russian region of Kursk, the Ukrainian army said in a statement on Facebook, publishing a video which claims to show these Russian prisoners identifying themselves in front of the camera.
Ukraine, which has been fighting the Russian invasion for three years, launched a surprise offensive in the Russian border region of Kursk in August 2024.
