If he had already won the Next Gen Masters last December, the great Brazilian hope Joao Fonseca revealed himself to the eyes of the whole world at the Australian Open, where he defeated Andrey Rublev in the first round for his very first Grand Slam match, and what’s more, against a top 10.

Stopped in the second round by Lorenzo Sonego, after a big fight in five sets (6−7, 6–3, 6–1, 3–6, 6–3, in 3h41 of play), the 18-year-old received a huge ovation from the public and Brazilian fans who came in large numbers to Melbourne.
