“So many clear chances, which is really positive, but not scoring more is disappointing – winning 2-1 in a north London derby is a big thing.

“Closing the gap is important – it’s a big night for us.”

Going down 1-0: “It’s a strange feeling when you’re on the pitch and you feel that domination – we were so above them.

“We believed in ourselves and we didn’t give up.”

On his own performance: “As I get older, I don’t get the recognition I deserve.

“I was bought very expensively and I play for Arsenal. Not many people like Arsenal – I keep my head down and I know my qualities.

On the title race: “Every time Liverpool drew we didn’t take advantage and it was a kick in the teeth.”
