No cup magic in Spain this Wednesday.
Opposed to Real Betis, FC Barcelona achieved great success at home (5-1) to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Spanish Cup. Getafe qualified nine against eleven
It’s not just Barça who have signed a full box. On the lawn of Elche, Atlético de Madrid also won with a four-goal margin (0-4). Alexander Sørloth opened the scoring with a shot into the area from close range (0-1, 8e), before making the break from the penalty spot (0-2, 30e). Facing an opponent reduced to ten after the exclusion of Nicolás Fernández (50e), Rodrigo Riquelme scores a superb goal with a long-range shot (0-3, 62e), before Julián Álvarez appeared in the area in the right place at the right time to set the final score (0-4, 76e).
In the other matches of the evening, Leganés took over Almeria (2-3). Pontevedrathe fourth division team that created a sensation by eliminating Levante, Villarreal and Mallorca, has saw his adventure end by losing to Getafeyet reduced to nine (0-1). This Thursday, Real Madrid will host Celta Vigo in the round of 16 of the competition, while Athletic Club, defending champion, faces Osasuna in San Mamés for a Basque duel.
