This morning, against all expectations, David Lisnard, mayor of Cannesannounced an initiative that was surprising to say the least.

For this, the municipality will organize a training session Tuesday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m., at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. This meeting, aimed at local traders and professionals, will address the technical, accounting and tax aspects linked to the adoption of cryptos.

At the same time, a map of “crypto-friendly” businesses will be set up and regularly updated to guide visitors.

“It is not a question here of judging the merits of said cryptocurrencies or of promoting them, but simply of preventing Cannes and local businesses from depriving themselves of a potential clientele with high potential. »

Thus, it would seem that this adoption is mainly motivated by the city’s strong tourism.

In addition, the mayor of Cannes took advantage of this announcement to also reveal that the city hosts the 8th edition of the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC)from June 30 to July 3, 2025.

Who knows, perhaps, Cannes will lead the adoption of cryptocurrency payments in France. Either way, tourists armed with crypto will likely be happy to be able to use them with local merchants.
