The police custody of the driver suspected of having driven into three cyclists and killing one of them in Rouen, in Seine-Maritime, Tuesday January 14, was extended on Wednesday, reports to “ici Normandie” the prosecutor of the Republic of Rouen, Sébastien Gallois. According to “ici Normandie”, a psychologist spoke with the suspect and judged that the latter’s condition was compatible with her remaining in police custody until Thursday.

The forty-year-old told investigators “hear voices”. This 47-year-old woman had four weapons, a revolver and a rifle, in her van. Three phones were found on her, with which she called the municipal police, the national police and the gendarmerie. The reasons for the action remain unclear. According to the public prosecutor, Sébastien Gallois, the forty-year-old evokes “significant personal discomfort”. She had expressed suicidal intentions to her boss that morning.

A 28-year-old young woman died in this tragedy on Tuesday. Two other young women born in 1993 and 1995 were injured. There is a fourth victim, who is not injured. This is the owner of a van whose vehicle was damaged. Investigators are still seeking to identify other victims or witnesses to this tragedy. After a chase in several towns in the Rouen metropolitan area, the driver was arrested in Buchy, at the gates of the Pays de Bray on Tuesday.
