The incredible scam involving impersonation of Brad Pitt has finally crossed French-speaking borders. Now, the media across the Atlantic are taking up the matter to such an extent that a spokesperson for the star has reacted.

The affair of the fake Brad Pitt made so much noise that it did not take long for the American press to talk about it in turn. As a reminder, a French woman came to tell in Sept à Huit on TF1 how she was extorted out of 800,000 francs by one or more scammers posing on the Web as the American actor.
The site Entertainment Weekly managed to get a spokesperson for Brad Pitt to speak:
“It’s terrible that scammers are taking advantage of fans’ strong connection to celebrities, but this is an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online solicitations, especially from actors who don’t ‘have no presence on social media’
Indeed, Brad Pitt does not have an Instagram account and even less a TikTok account. He is part of the closed circle of celebrities absent from social networks, such as Keanue Reeves and Jennifer Lawrence.
And if this love scam aroused so much interest, it’s because the victim, Anne, appeared on television, telling with the utmost seriousness that she transferred all the money she had to a alleged Brad Pitt needed an emergency kidney transplant. Money that Anne transferred to an account in Türkiye.
She was the laughing stock of the internet following her testimony. Mocked for her credulity, it is also for her inability to recognize a crude photo montage or an obvious Deepfake that she is now everywhere on the Internet. The wave of humiliation is such that TF1 removed its report from its replay platforms. Anne, for her part, described the report as “dung”, “crap” and put the channel on notice.
