Xiaomi has just made its new entry-level smartphones official, the Redmi Note 14, 14 5G, 14 Pro, 14 Pro 5G and 14 Pro+ 5G (yes, that’s a lot). They succeed the Redmi Note 13 range, which was renowned for its value for money. What are they worth and where can you find them at the best price? Here’s everything you need to know.
With previous generations of Redmi Note, Xiaomi offered the best affordable Android smartphones. On January 15, 2025, the brand officially unveiled new models, which belong to the “Redmi Note 14” line. Like the previous generation, there are five versions with a whole bunch of power and storage variations:
It is not always easy to navigate among all its appellations. This article helps you make the right choice, at the right price.
Let’s start with the most modest version on paper: the standard Redmi Note 14. The latter evolves somewhat compared to the Redmi Note 13 with the addition of a square camera module positioned at the back, like what we find on the latest iPhone 16 Pro. With its 6.67-inch screen, it is a large format device despite its thinness (8 mm) and a very suitable weight (190 grams). Its screen is entitled to an OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, with an improved resolution compared to the previous generation of 2400 x1800 pixels.
It is under the hood that the Note 14 marks a break with the old model, since it uses the Mediatek Helio G99-Ultra chip, which is a little more efficient on paper. In terms of photography, it does not propose any major changes, except the replacement of the wide-angle sensor with a two-megapixel depth sensor, undoubtedly very dispensable.
As usual with Xiaomi, there are two storage capacities:
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 (6+128 Go) : 199 €
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 (8+256 Go) : 249 €
With a price of €199 in its “8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage” version, it is the most affordable option in the range. At this price, the model is ideal for those who do not want to spend a fortune on a smartphone – while retaining features worthy of more high-end models such as the 120 Hz refresh rate or the fingerprint reader under the screen.
The Redmi Note 14 5G retains, broadly speaking, the same advantages as the 4G version by adding compatibility with 5G terminals. In addition, this year, the Redmi Note 14 5G offers a different SoC with the addition of a MediaTek Dimensity 7025-Ultra, newer and more powerful on paper. Note that the model offers a single version with 8 GB of Ram and 256 GB storage.
At 299 euros, it is overall the best choice, especially if your mobile plan offers a 5G data envelope – enough to benefit from a higher speed when you spend time on the web or social networks.
The Redmi Note 14 Pro is close to the mid-range of the family. Its design clearly stands out from the lower range with a curved screen and back. It appears more premium in appearance, but also offers more solid performance thanks to its MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra SoC.
For photography, its block is moved to the center and we find better sensors, including one of 200 Mpx (wide angle), one of 8 Mpx (ultra wide angle) and a 2 Mpx macro lens. Its selfie sensor is 32 Mpx.
To make things even more complex, the model also exists in 4 versions:
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro (8+256 Go) : 353 €
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro (12+512 Go) : 403 €
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (8+256 Go) : 403 €
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (8+256 Go) : 413 €
Again, the choice depends on your performance needs, storage needs, and your plan. But, to put it simply, the model is aimed more at those looking for a good camera phone and who would be limited by the standard Redmi Note 14.
Finally, here is the most advanced version of the range: the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G. Its configuration, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC coupled with 8 or 12 GB of RAM, brings it closer to the flagships of other brands, all while maintaining a price below €500. Although it retains the same photo characteristics, its sensors are reinforced at the back with protective glass.
The big strong point of the phone is its ultra-fast charging, only present on the 120 W model, enough to recharge the phone in around twenty minutes. The model automatically comes with 5G, but it exists in two versions:
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus (8+256 Go) : 469 €
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus (12+512 Go) : 499 €
At less than €500, it’s a good choice for those who want a smartphone with many high-end features, except the price. Note that the latter includes some AI-boosted features, an advantage usually reserved for more expensive models.
