There are already no more Belgians at the 2025 Australian Open: Elise Mertens eliminated by Jessica Pegula in the 2nd round

Jessica Pegula will meet Serbian Olga Danilovic (WTA 55) in the third round.

Mertens, 29, is playing the Australian Open for the eighth time. She reached the semi-finals in 2018 for her first participation. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, she reached the fourth round (round of 16).

In Melbourne, Mertens will also defend his doubles title. Last year, she won alongside Taiwanese Hsieh Su-wei. This year, she is associated with the Australian Ellen Perez, with whom she forms the seeded pair N.6.
