Lane Hutson had a three-assist night and the Montreal Canadiens finished their first visit to Salt Lake City with a 5-3 victory over the Utah Hockey Club.
The 20-year-old defenseman now has 35 points in 43 games this season, first among all NHL rookies.
Mike Matheson, Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, twice, and Cole Caufield scored the goals for the Canadiens (21-18-4), who signed a fourth victory in their last five games (4-0-1). Matheson and Caufield also added an assist to their record and Samuel Montembeault made 22 saves.
The Habs are 10-2-1 since December 17.
Josh Doan, Nick Bjugstad and Logan Cooley were the scorers for Utah (18-18-7). Karel Vejmelka gave up five times on 26 shots, while Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller gleaned two assists.
André Tourigny’s squad suffered a ninth loss in its last 11 matches (2-7-2).
