The Nanterre cold case center launched a call for witnesses on Tuesday to shed light on the murder of little Anaïs Marcelli. This 10-year-old girl disappeared on January 14, 1991 on her way to school in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin). She was found dead, strangled, three months later, in the Bussang pass, in the Vosges. Thirty-four years after the disappearance of Anaïshis parents want to know the truth. This case has never been resolved.
His mother, Martine Mercklen, returned to RTL on this day of January 14, 1991. “I went home. I was a little ahead,” remembered the little girl’s mother. She was worried not to see her daughter return. “She had a study. And after the study, she came home. She never came home“, she confided.
“For three months, we were looking. It lasted a very long time“, indicated Martine Mercklen. The body of Anaïs Marcelli was found, three months later, on April 21, 1991, by a walker.

“This is our last resort”
On RTLthe parents of little Anaïs are calling for witnesses. “I tell myself that maybe one or more [personnes]I don’t know, saw something“, they “perhaps could not speak or they put it, perhaps, in a drawer, as they say”, she explained.
After a dismissal in 1997, the investigation was reopened in the mid-2010s. Several were launched, but were ultimately unsuccessful. In July 2022, the Mulhouse public prosecutor’s office relinquished the case in favor of the new national jurisdiction specializing in unresolved cases, in Nanterre.
-“It’s our last resort because we are now of a certain age. And we would like to leave knowing what happened to our child. I hope it can come to fruition.”said the mother, 34 days to the day after the disappearance of her daughter.
