Are your Ubisoft games crashing on Windows 11? Two Assassin’s Creed games have just been updated | Xbox

While it is always important to use the latest version of Windows to take advantage of new features, and especially to fill potential IT flaws, 24H2 certainly did not please certain players who enjoyed Ubisoft titles. Indeed, the update deployed in November caused problems with several games in the publisher’s catalog, but fortunately, Ubisoft has just deployed a new update for two of them.

Ubisoft continues to resolve compatibility issues with Windows 11 version 24H2

The Redmond company itself confirmed in November that this update could cause problems with certain Ubisoft games.

“These games may become unresponsive upon startup, loading, or during an active game. In some cases, users may experience a black screen. Affected games include:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Avatar : Frontiers of Pandora”

In the case of Star Wars Outlaws, Microsoft had specified that Ubisoft had implemented a temporary fix to prevent the game from failing and becoming unresponsive. However, performance problems could persist.

So that you are not impacted, Microsoft has found a solution so that Windows is not updated inadvertently.

“To preserve your Windows Update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on devices that have these games installed. These devices will not be offered the installation of Windows 11, version 24H2 through the channel Windows Update Release Reports IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reporting can check for these issues by using the following backup IDs: 54437462 and 54580160.

Important: We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update to 24H2 using the Windows 11 Setup Wizard or Media Creation Tool until this issue has been resolved .”

At the beginning of December, updates were deployed to make Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws compatible with the 24H2 version of Windows 11. Today, it is the turn of Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to receive updates to work again. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is still waiting for an update.

Unfortunately, this issue caused a wave of review bombing of Valhalla and Origins on Steam.
